McMINNVILLE, Ore. – George Fox took control from opening draw and cruised to an 18-2 Northwest Conference victory over the Linfield Wildcats Saturday in women's lacrosse action at Maxwell Field.
How it played out
The Bruins built an 8-0 lead in the first half before Linfield's
Genna Hughes put the Wildcats on the scoreboard with a goal at the 5:38 mark. The half ended with George Fox holding a commanding 12-1 lead.
The Bruins led in nearly every statistical category during the opening period. They outshot the 'Cats 24-2, putting 21 shots on target compared to just five for Linfield.
When play resumed after intermission, George Fox continued to control the contest, adding six goals to Linfield's one over the final 30 minutes.
Maya Petersen accounted for Linfield's other goal, an unassisted tally at the 23:59 mark of the second half.
Summing it up
The Bruins' Jess Hanson led all scorers, netting four tallies in the first half. Teammate Jennifer Burke also notched four goals, including three in the first half.
Goalkeeper
Kylee Duey was one of the bright spots for Linfield. She played all 60 minutes in net, making 18 saves.

Mikaela Easterlin earned the victory in goal for the Bruins. Easterlin made four saves and gave up one goal in 30 minutes of action.
"Fox is a very fast and in-shape team," said Hartmann. "It was tough to compete when we were down to only one available substitute due to injuries."
Where they stand
The loss evened Linfield's NWC record at 2-2. The Wildcats are 4-5 overall. George Fox, the reigning NWC champion, moved to 7-2 and 4-0 in NWC play.
