MCMINNVILLE, ORE. – The Linfield Wildcats (3-7) hosted to Vancouver Island (7-4) on December 30
th in Ted Wilson Gymnasium. For the most part the Wildcats had control of the game from-the-get go and were able to pick up the win, 88-75.

Kory Oleson picked up her second double-double of the season scoring a game high of 33 points while adding 10 rebounds. Adding 15 points, four assists, and two steals was
Cameron Reuter.
Molly Danielson and
Maggie Smith each contributed 11 points, while
Cassidy Schutz picked up ten points in the Wildcats win.
Mariner's box score
Vancouver Island was led by Amber Lease who picked up 22 points and three assists. Danielle Vanbergen added 17 points and two rebounds for the Mariners. Off the bench Avery Snider added 13 points and Emily Clarke grabbed down 13 rebounds and 8 points.
1st Half
The Mariners got on the board first with a three in the opening possession, but the Wildcats countered with back to back jumpers from Reuter and Oleson. Linfield and Vancouver went back-and-forth through the first seven minutes of play, until the 'Cats went on an 11-point run as they closed out the first quarter. The Wildcats kept their moment going the second quarter as they scored on the opening possession. A three-pointer by Schutz gave the 'Cats a 14-point lead with four minutes left to play in the first half and would keep their momentum rolling. The Mariners were able to pick up a last-minute bucket in to end the half and go into the second half trailing by 12.
2nd Half
Vancouver came out ready to play in the third quarter as Emma Planter drained a three-pointer to start the half, however Reuter countered for the Wildcats with a three-point goal of her own. The Wildcats went on a 10 point-run in the extending their lead to 20 points with three minutes left in the third quarter. A jumper by Reuter gave the Wildcats a 23-point lead to end the third quarter and give the 'Cats their largest lead of the game. The Mariners dominated the fourth quarter as the outscored the Wildcats 28 to 18 and were able to cut the 'Cats lead to seven with two minutes left to play. Linfield was able to knock down a few free-throws in the last minute of play to ensure the win.
