SALEM, ORE. – The Linfield Wildcats (2-7) traveled to Salem to take on Corban (2-4) on December 18th in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center. The 'Cats hung with the Warriors for the three of four periods and made a great comeback in the fourth quarter but fell to Corban 87-98.
'Cat stats
Molly Danielson had a game high of 26 points just one point below her season high in 40 minutes of play. In 30 minutes of play
Kory Oleson added 22 points and four rebounds.
Cameron Reuter contributed 13 points and
Hanna Bingham added 10. Off the bench
Cassidy Schutz put up 11 while
Maggie Smith added five.
Pioneer's box score
Corban was led by Jordan Woodvine who had a team high of 23 points and seven rebounds. Her counter-part Treasure Farmer added 22 points for the Warriors. Two other Warriors were able to score double-digits as well as six others getting in the score book.
1st Half
Corban won the opening tip and scored in their first possession as Treasure Farmer laid one in. Linfield responded as Reuter drained a three and went to the line to make it a four-point play. The 'Cats were able to extend their lead as Bingham scored off of a rebound and put back. Linfield went on a four-point run to go up 12 -9 before the Warriors fought back and ended up taking the lead back. The 'Cats and Warriors went back and fourth the whole first quarter, but Corban would lead going into the second quarter 23-20. Bingham got the 'Cats on the board to start the second quarter. Corban went on an eight-point run before Oleson was able to break it up with a jumper. The Warriors went into half time with a lot of momentum as they were leading the 'Cats 55-41.
2nd Half
Corban kept their momentum from the first half as they drained back-to-back threes to start the second half. The Warriors out-scored the Wildcats 33-17 in the third quarter. Linfield went on an eight-point run to start the fourth quarter and cut Corban's lead. Oleson hit a three with 20 seconds left in the match up to bring the 'Cats within 11.
