Linfield falls to Whittier, despite double-double from Danielson

WHITTIER, CALIF. – Hoping to pick up a win before catching their flight back to Oregon the 'Cats fought hard with the Poets of Whittier but fell 50-58.
 
'Cat stats
In 37 minutes of play Molly Danielson was able to collect her second double-double of the season, scoring a team high of 25 points and 15 rebounds. Kory Oleson was only a couple rebound shy of a double-double pulling down eight rebounds and scoring 16 points. Adding five rebounds and five points for Linfield was Morgan Croxford. The Wildcats scored 24 of their 50 points from the paint.
 
Poets' box score
Whittier was led by Cali Cubel who was six of 10 from the field and three of five from the charity stripe for a team high of 15 points. Monica Hanna added 10 points and five rebounds for the Poets. Eight different players scored for the Poets as their bench was very productive scoring 15 points.


1st Half
The Poets scored first, but the 'Cats responded quickly as Oleson made a jumper and then Cameron Reuter made a free-throw to take the lead. Linfield kept the lead till four minutes remained in the first quarter and the Poets went on a four-point run. Oleson made a free-throw late in the first quarter to cut Whittier's lead to two points entering the second quarter. The Poets came out hot in the second quarter scoring eight straight points. Heading into halftime the 'Cats trailed by the most they had all game being 11 points.
 
2nd Half
Linfield came out ready to play in the third quarter scoring the first four points of the half. Back-to-back jumpers by Oleson and Danielson ended the third quarter and cut the Poets' lead to ten. The Wildcats went on a seven-point run in the middle of the fourth quarter and trailed by three for the first time since the start second quarter. Whittier ended up scoring the last six points of the game and defeating Linfield.

The Wildcats will host Warner Pacific on Thursday, November 15th in the home opener at 6:00 p.m.
