Pioneers top Wildcats in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. — Miyah Leith scored a game-high 23 points to help the Lewis & Clark Pioneers defeat the Linfield Wildcats 84-75 Friday at Friday night at Pamplin Sports Center.

What it means
The Northwest Conference victory improves the Pios' overall record to 8-6 and 3-2 in conference play. The Wildcats drop to 6-8 and 2-3 in the NWC.

How it played out
Lewis & Clark jumped out to an early 10-point lead in the first quarter. By the end of the second quarter, they pushed their lead to 15. In the third quarter, the 'Cats outscored the Pioneers, bringing the game within nine points heading into the final quarter. However, in the final quarter, Lewis & Clark held the Wildcats' comeback bid at bay and secured a nine-point victory.

Wildcats by the numbers
Molly Danielson led the way for the 'Cats with 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Also scoring in the double digits were Kory Oleson and Bailey McDevitt. Oleson had 11 points, four rebounds and a steal; McDevitt added 10 points, two rebounds and a steal.

Jade Everage scored seven points and recorded three assists, and Genna Hughes added eight points and a block. Cassidy Schutz aided the 'Cats with six points.

How the Pioneers stacked up
On top of her 23 points, Leith added three rebounds, a steal and an assist. Janessa Willie scored 18 points and also recorded three assists and two steals. Alyx Crager had 11 points and three rebounds, and Lauren Wood added nine points and 11 rebounds.

The Wildcats return to Ted Wilson Gymnasium Saturday for a 4 p.m. Northwest Conference game against the Puget Sound Loggers.
