Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

'Cats move to 2-2 in NWC with 1-0 win over Pioneers

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Baylie Cameron's first-half strike proved the difference in Sunday's Northwest Conference affair at Linfield's Soccer Field, where the host Wildcats topped the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 1-0.

1st Half
The game's lone goal came during the 26th minute when Taylor Cole whipped in a cross that was parried away by Pioneer goalkeeper Megan Sawyer. The attempted pass bounced around Lewis & Clark's box a couple of times before Cameron stuck her foot out to score her first goal of the season.

The Wildcats saw the majority of possession time during the first half, tallying 12 shots with five on target. The Pioneers recorded their first shot of the game with four minutes remaining in the period after Caroline Hennes' attempt flew wide.

2nd Half
Hennes had another great opportunity to pull her side even during the 67th minute when she fired a shot from the top of the Wildcats box. Linfield goalkeeper Sarah Bailey recorded her first save of the contest on the shot, smothering the attempt to preserve the hosts' advantage.

Cameron saw another opportunity late on nearly find the net. Dribbling past three Pioneers in the 80th minute, her effort from the left side of the box drifted just wide of Lewis & Clark's post.

Linfield Stat Check
Natalie Amara and Cole each tallied five shots. Carole Thomas and Cameron totaled three each as well. Bailey recorded two saves in the contest. The Wildcats took 28 shots on the afternoon.

Prime Pioneers
Hennes accounted for two of the Pioneers' four total shots. L&C goalie Megan Sawyer ended the day with eight saves.

What It Means
