LA VERNE, Calif. — Playing their fourth game in six days, the Linfield Wildcats were unfazed by the busy schedule, beating the Caltech Beavers 64-57 Wednesday at the Sports Pavilion.
How it played out
Linfield held a slight lead throughout the entire game, and though they held on to secure the neutral court victory, the Wildcats were unable to comfortably pull away.
"We had opportunities to spread the game out, but never capitalized," Linfield head coach
Shanan Rosenberg said. "Fortunately, we fought through and found a way to win."
Liam O'Reilly and
Jordan Clark led the Wildcats' offensive attack. Clark scored 13 points, while O'Reilly added 14 points and nine rebounds.
"Liam and Jordan made some huge plays down the stretch," Rosenberg said.
Riley Bruil, who added six assists, four points and two rebounds, drew praise from Rosenberg.
"While Riley didn't shoot much tonight, he issued six assists with no turnovers. He just wants to help the team," Rosenberg said.
Linfield totals
As a team, the Wildcats shot 45.7 percent from the field, grabbed 35 rebounds and scored 21 points off of turnovers.
Tyler Watts had eight points and six rebounds. Point guards
Troy Arce and
Sandor Rodriguez combined for 15 points. Arce netted nine points and two assists. Rodriguez scored six points.
Beaver box score
Caltech's efforts were led by Alec Andrews, who had 12 points, four assists and four rebounds. Marcus Gee and Spencer Schneider added 11 points apiece; Gee also had three steals, and Schneider had three rebounds.
The Wildcats improved to 4-0 overall. The Beavers fell to 0-3.

The Wildcats return to McMinnville for their home opener Monday against Portland Bible at Ted Wilson Gymnasium. Action begins at 7 p.m.
