WHY LINFIELD? I chose Linfield because I was drawn to the small class size and tight-knit community. I’m looking forward to building relationships with my peers and professors. I’m also looking into Linfield's amazing study abroad program.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Being a student-athlete always means being a student first. I have to find a balance between school and sports, which may be difficult at times, but I would never give up on either my sport or schooling because both are very important to me.

WHAT’S THE BEST LINFIELD CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AND WHY? The Criminal Justice System with Professor Tasha Lane has been my favorite course as I’m interested in the criminology aspect of sociology. This was a small class, which allowed for lots of in-depth discussion and activities and improved my learning experience. This class taught me about the sociology of crime while also going into detail about the different aspects of the criminal justice system. We shared ideas for improving the system, which I thought was a great way to look at our possible future.

WHO HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR LIFE? WHY HAS HE OR SHE BEEN SO INFLUENTIAL? My greatest inspiration is my mother. She was a stay-at-home mom for most of my life, has juggled four children and now has a night job that she takes on after taking care of the kids all day. She has taught me what it is to be a caring mother and how to deal with any challenges life throws at me. My parents make sure to give us the best life possible and shower us with love. I hope that I can one day attempt to be half the mother my mom is and be able to balance raising my children and doing the work I love.

THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE OR LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN... It’s not about the individual; it’s about the team. It’s easy to get caught up in ourselves and wonder why we aren’t seeing the court as much as others in our position, but that should only push you to work harder, no matter where you find yourself. Every person on a team plays a role and holds importance. One person can have an effect on everyone else. Sticking by each other’s side and pushing each other to reach the highest potential is the true meaning of team sports. It’s about what you do with the role you are given, not where you are placed.

AS A LINFIELD STUDENT-ATHLETE, MY GOALS INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY FOR MY TEAM ARE... A goal for myself is to keep improving every single day. I love seeing improvement in myself. It tells me that the hours spent in the gym are finally paying off. I would love to see more court time as well, and that will be a great challenge for me. I know I have amazing teammates and players right by my side, working to make me better. As a team, I would love to see more overall wins for us. We have a strong returning core and incoming players who are capable of helping the team reach its true potential. I think this year, we can really make a statement in the NWC and will turn some heads.

WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? I’m unique because of my drive to learn more and improve every day in the classroom and on the court. I am always asking questions and striving for more. When I shank a pass, miss a serve or get a question wrong on an assignment, I immediately want to know what I did wrong so I can fix it for the next time.

WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? I am hoping to get into the field of forensic psychology. Linfield will help me achieve this through the sociology program.
