WHY LINFIELD? I chose to attend Linfield because of its personal feeling. Everyone on campus and around McMinnville was so kind and friendly when I came to visit over the summer. Also, Coach Lisa and Carl, my tennis coaches, really made me feel like I would be taken care of if I came here. They instantly made me feel like family.
Â
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Being a student-athlete at Linfield means always giving your best effort, whether it be on the court/field, in the classroom, with friends, or in the community. Regardless of what the outcome may be in what we are doing, Linfield student-athletes never give up, have a positive attitude, and encourage and love one another through it all.
Â
WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? Somethings that are unique/interesting about me is that I am probably one of the shortest student-athletes at Linfield and I play best when I am able to smile on the court.
Â
WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? In whatever I do, my goal is to serve, love, and bring joy to those around me. Linfield has blessed me with a family away from home: my tennis teammates and coaches, YoungLife friends and mentors, and academic staff and classmates. These wonderful people have not only helped me to grow in my faith, learn creative skills, and improve my tennis game, but they have shown me love and have challenged me to become a stronger person.
Â
WHAT IS THE BEST CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AT LINFIELD? The best Linfield class I have taken was Kinesiology, because I could easily apply the concepts we learned in class to my life outside of class and my professor was a joy to learn from.
Â
WHEN NOT COMPETING IN SPORTS OR STUDYING FOR SCHOOL, I LIKE TO SPEND MY FREE TIME…Cooking, eating, watching movies or doing anything with my friends and family from tennis and YoungLife.
Â
THE GREATEST LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN…"Life isn't always rainbows and unicorns." This is something Coach Lisa Macy-Baker would always tell me after I overcame a tough situation to show me that life will be difficult at times, but it won't get me down.
Â
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR LINFIELD CAREER THUS FAR? The highlight of my Linfield athletic career was running out onto the court to embrace my teammate, Riley Clayeux, after she had just won her singles match to clinch the 2019 NWC Conference Tournament for our team. I remember all of us crying, being so joyful and having so much gratitude for one another. That will be a moment I will never forget.
