WHAT ARE THE REASONS YOU CHOSE TO ATTEND LINFIELD? I chose to attend Linfield because of the small college town feel. I absolutely fell in love with the area, and I have family close by in Portland. The coaches, faculty, teammates, and friends are unmatched here at Linfield. You will not get this kind of experience anywhere else.
WHAT DOES BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE MEAN TO YOU? Being a student-athlete brings so much more to the table than just going to school and practice. To me, it means showing leadership, work ethic and determination all the time. I enjoy the constant challenges that arise, and being a part of something like Linfield athletics is a thing I will never forget.
WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? I do not think it is easy to find somebody with a better work ethic, both in the classroom and on the field. Working hard has always been important to my family.
HOW HAS PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS MADE YOU A BETTER PERSON? A large amount of my life lessons has been taught to me through athletics. I have learned leadership skills, how to have a tough mental side, and most importantly, that failing is one of the only ways you are able to get places in life. I learned very quickly that baseball is a game that the people who are best at failing succeed the most. I will be forever thankful of the lessons I have been taught and the people I have met.
WHAT’S THE BEST LINFIELD CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AND WHY? My Exercise Science Capstone course was the best class I've taken at Linfield. I enjoyed this class because the environment fostered development, not only from a career standpoint, but also from a life standpoint. I enjoyed the critical reflections, content covered, and make-up of my class which resulted in a more than adequate learning environment and place to grow.
WHO HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR LIFE? WHY HAS HE OR SHE BEEN SO INFLUENTIAL? My family has been the greatest inspiration in my life. The unwavering support, ability to accept and be motivated by hard things, and the constant genuine, integrity filled lifestyle that was created for me has proved to be the most beneficial thing in my life. They are the most important thing to me and my goal is to continue to make them proud.
THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE OR LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN... The greatest lesson I've learned in my time at Linfield is the concept of "rent is due everyday.” No matter the environment or circumstances, getting 1% better every day is of upmost importance. I have truly recognized the importance of phrases such as, "There is no substitute for hard work" and "good things happen to good people.” I try to mold my actions and experiences around these words.
AS A LINFIELD STUDENT-ATHLETE, MY GOALS INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY FOR MY TEAM ARE... The ultimate goal of Linfield Baseball is to win at every level. In my opinion, that should be the goal for every team, no matter the situation. Outside of this, the next most important goal for the team and myself is learning and practicing how to become highly functioning, contributing members of society and to the people around you. I am incredibly grateful to have been around a team with a culture like this and can't wait to see everybody reap the benefits of our hard work, grit, determination, and brotherhood.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS? In ten years, I see myself working at my own law firm after completing law school at the University of Montana. I would like to settle down back home after traveling the northwest, hunting, and fishing as much as possible. I am excited to see what the future holds and can't wait for it to be here.
