WHAT ARE THE REASONS YOU CHOSE TO ATTEND LINFIELD?
I chose to attend Linfield because of the community aspect that the school had to offer. I also appreciated how my coaches made me feel welcomed and at home right away. I chose a place where I would be able to continue my track and field career while also being able to focus on my studies.
WHAT DOES BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE MEAN TO YOU?
Being a student athlete at Linfield comes with a lot of responsibility. I have a commitment to my education, but also to my team. Being a student athlete also means being a part of something that is bigger than myself. I enjoy being a student athlete at Linfield because of all of the amazing individuals that I get to encounter and work with on a daily basis.
HOW HAS PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS MADE YOU A BETTER PERSON?
Participating in sports has made me learn a lot about who I am. It has helped me become a better leader in everything that I do. I have learned to lead with compassion even in the face of adversity. Sports have also taught me lots about patience and understanding. They have encouraged me to lean on my faith more than anything else.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?
In 10 years, I see myself putting my psychology degree to use by working in a children’s hospital. I hope to be able to be a light and bring smiles to children’s faces when they are facing their darkest moments.
WHAT’S THE BEST CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AT LINFIELD AND WHY?
My favorite class at Linfield so far has been gender issues in education and Sport. This class was especially valuable because it was outside of my major. It was a class I would not have taken if I wasn't at Linfield. It was interesting to me because it was so relevant and applicable to my life. The professor was outstanding and incredibly passionate about the subject which made the content even more intriguing.
WHO HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR LIFE? WHY HAS HE OR SHE BEEN SO INFLUENTIAL?
My greatest inspiration in my life is my dad. He is a beacon of light for so many individuals and attends to the needs around him. He is incredibly selfless, an outstanding leader, and shows faith in everything that he does. I aspire to love the people around me like my dad does.
THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN…
I have learned that no matter how hard your day was, someone else probably had a harder one. It is so important to check in on your teammates especially after a tough competition or even practice. Teams are supposed to be the people who lift each other up and know each other better than anyone else. I am so thankful for my teammates and the lessons they have taught me about grit and perseverance.
AS A LINFIELD STUDENT-ATHLETE, MY GOALS INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY FOR MY TEAM ARE…
Individually, my goals are to represent my team and put my team before myself. As a team, my goal is that we compete fiercely with poise and grace.
