WHY LINFIELD? It was a hard choice between Linfield and one that was a lot bigger. I chose Linfield because I received a lot more financial aid, but more importantly it was about the community. I automatically felt like the professors cared about me (and I got to meet them!), and I met girls from the track and cross-country team too. I came away feeling like I had a place, that faculty and students noticed and cared about me, and I would be a significant impact to the school, rather than just a number at a larger university.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Being a student-athlete means a student that is able to balance both playing a sport consistently and being able to be a full-time student. They are able to balance and do both to their fullest effort.
WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? I work hard and I am determined to do my personal best in everything I do. I may not be the fastest, but I value being able to help and be a part of the team in any way I can.
WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? I am focused on media studies, but I want to work in the film industry in the future. Instead of going to a film school, I wanted to have a liberal arts education. Linfield will help me have well rounded education that will provide many skills into the future.
WHAT IS THE BEST CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AT LINFIELD AND WHY? I think my favorite class was Sociology of Education. Although this has probably been my most academically rigorous course, I learned so much about how the education system came to be, the several causes for why issues and successes might occur depending on location, demographic and accessibility.
WHO HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR LIFE? WHY HAS HE OR SHE BEEN SO INFLUENTIAL? I think my mom is my greatest inspiration. She is the most hardworking, smart, and thoughtful person I know.
Â
WHEN NOT COMPETING IN SPORTS OR STUDYING FOR SCHOOL, I LIKE TO SPEND MY FREE TIME…Hanging out with my friends, taking photos and cooking!
THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE OR LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD… The effort you put in will reflect what you get out. Â
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR LINFIELD CAREER THUS FAR? The highlight of my Linfield career thus far has been finding an amazing community and friends that continue to push each other to achieve more, whether it is in the training or in the classroom.
AS A LINFIELD STUDENT-ATHLETE, MY GOALS INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY FOR MY TEAM ARE... To hold each other accountable, to support each other and to push each other to be the best version of ourselves.
