Former all-star football player Tramaine Payne is in his 24th year as a member of the track and field coaching staff.
Payne graduated from Linfield in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and earned his master's degree in kinesiology at Humboldt State. He holds a sprints and hurdles specialist certification from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Payne was honored in 2016 as the USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field West Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
A native of Klamath Falls, Payne is a graduate of Henley High School. Outside of his coaching duties at Linfield, he works as a physical education teacher at Patton Middle School in McMinnville. He was honored as the McMinnville School District's 2024-25 Distinguished Educator of the Year.
Tramaine and his wife, Anna, a former all-star Linfield volleyball player, live in McMinnville where they are raising two sons, Trayden, 9, and Paxon, 7.
