WHAT’S THE BEST CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AT LINFIELD AND WHY? Sports Reporting has been hands down my favorite class at Linfield because I was able to hear from professional sports reporters and learn valuable skills from individuals who are working in the field of my dream. I also saw major improvements in my writing skills as the class went on and ultimately credit my summer internship to that class and professor because of how much I improved.

WHO HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR LIFE? WHY HAS HE OR SHE BEEN SO INFLUENTIAL? My grandpa because of his grit, determination, and ability to push through anything. Anyone who knows Larry would say he's one of the most inspirational people they know because of his passion for running and drive to keep going. At 85, he still runs marathons, races teens at the end of 10k's, and always finds competition in anything and everything he does. Larry is the last person you'll ever hear talk about his achievements or talent in his sport. He's always encouraging the people around him, interested in what others are doing, and forever willing to help them accomplish something.

THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE OR LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN... To always work harder than the person next to me and harder than the day before. No matter the talent level of my competitors or teammates, if I am the hardest worker in the pool, I have to be happy with myself. In the end, without self-motivation, I will not be able to accomplish my goals because I will always know that I didn't give 100 percent effort every time I jumped in the pool.

AS A LINFIELD STUDENT-ATHLETE MY GOALS INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY FOR MY TEAM ARE... Individually, I'd like to go to nationals, set some team records, and most importantly, leave a culture of hard work and positivity behind. Showing success through dedication and being a good teammate speaks louder than plain natural talent. Collectively, my goal for the team is to become better teammates to each other and work harder than the day before. Ideally, this would lead to a conference championship, but in order for that to happen, we first need to show that we can handle the pressure of that goal through difficult training and tough meets.

WHAT'S THE BEST LINFIELD CLASS YOU'VE TAKEN AND WHY? Sports Reporting, Sports Ethics, and Photography. These classes all had the best professors who made the topics both fun and interesting. The best classes are the ones that allow students to learn valuable life lessons and make connections outside the classroom.

WHO HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR LIFE? WHY HAS HE OR SHE BEEN SO INFLUENTIAL? My family for always setting an example of staying fit, having fun while working out, and never giving up. I can always count on someone to join me on a run, workout at CrossFit with me, or help me out with my technique in the water. As a family, we know how to get a good workout in, and we always end it with a smile and of course some laughs.

THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE OR LESSON THAT I'VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN... Everything is fun if you have the right mindset. The harder the swim set is or the heavier the clean might feel, the greater the reward will be later on.

AS A LINFIELD-STUDENT ATHLETE, MY GOALS INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY FOR MY TEAM ARE... Have fun, get stronger, and built a culture of hard work and commitment both in and out of the water.
