WHY LINFIELD? For a long time, I had dismissed the idea of studying at a private school because of the tuition costs. Austin and Krista Hocker, two Linfield graduates who are very close to me, told me that even though it looks expensive they have lots of scholarships that bring the cost down. I was doubtful, but still applied.

When I toured Linfield, I was wowed by the small class sizes and meeting with some of my possible future professors. It was clear that Linfield was the best school I applied to. By the time college decision day came around I found that my tuition and board would be less than most public schools, when I found that out my decision was made.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Being a student-athlete means that your personal growth is not limited to the classroom, benefitting from the mentorship of athletes who are faster than me, and providing that mentorship for others and friendship, community and family.

WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? While most swimmers that I know were swimming since middle school or even elementary, I learned how to swim my freshman year. It is truly remarkable what a good coach, goal setting and stubbornness can accomplish.

WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? I would like to become a diplomat in a foreign country. One of the reasons that I chose Linfield was because on one visit I met Professor Patrick Cottrell, a professor of political science. He was a diplomat before he came to work for Linfield, and I am sure that in the next four years I will have some questions for him.
