Fourth-year assistant coach Murlio Martins brings substantial swimming experience as both an athlete and coach to his position.
He set several state records while competing for the University of Fortaleza in his hometown of Fortaleza, Brazil. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2005 before migrating to the United States.
Martins has worked with the McMinnville Swim Club for the past 10 years, first as an assistant under current Wildcats coach Kyle Kimball, then as head coach after Kimball departed accepted a coaching position in Ireland. As coach of the Mac Swim Club, he oversees as many as 120 athletes ranging in age from 5 to 61.
