WHY LINFIELD? There are three main reason why I chose to attend Linfield. The first reason is the small class sizes. This allows me to create one on one relationships with my professors. My second reason is the community. Linfield is a very small school compared to other colleges. This allows the students to get to know one another more on a day to day basis. Everyone is very inviting and supportive. My third reason is the athletics. I was able to continue competing in the sport that I love while also pursuing my studies.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Being a student-athlete at Linfield is much more than the hours we put in to our sport. It is much more than the early wake up time, the frustration with teammates, coaches, and your average student. Being a student-athlete means that we get to put our school’s name on our back and represent it doing what we love. We have worked hard to accomplish where we are and that pride of stepping out on game day/meet day is worth every ounce of sweat. I have gotten the opportunity to meet other athletes that are gifted, driven, dedicated, and so much more. I get to create bonds and friendships with people that all start because you share a passion for the same thing as them: being an athlete.

WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? Something that makes me interesting and unique as a student-athlete is I have been able to manage being able to pay my way through school on my own while being a successful student in the classroom and a successful athlete in the pool. This journey has been one of the hardest times but also the most rewarding thing I have done.

WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? Since I was little I have always been interested in the health field. When I was competing in swimming in my high school years I became very interested in the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy fields. Being an athlete my entire life I have seen my fellow teammates struggle with injuries and needing rehab and I have even struggled with a few sports injuries that caused me to need rehab. Attending Linfield and being an athlete here I have been given the opportunity to work with people in this field. Linfield has helped my passion for wanting to help others overcome injuries or challenges that hinder their athletic abilities.
