Trevor Wikre is in his second year as offensive line coach at Linfield in 2020.
Wikre came at Linfield in 2020 from the University of Northern Colorado, where he spent six years as the Bears' offensive line coach.
He began his coaching career at Colorado State in 2009, serving as quality control coach before transitioning to defensive graduate assistant role for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Before taking the position at Northern Colorado, Wikre spent two years at Adams State University where he coached the offensive line and served as recruiting coordinator.
Wikre, who grew up in Berthod, Colorado, earned bachelor’s degrees in both physical education and special education at Mesa State University before completing a master’s degree in educational leadership at Colorado State University.
In addition to coaching at Northern Colorado, he also served as advising and retention specialist, helping guide the development of freshmen and sophomores majoring in sport and exercise science.
Wikre’s name is well known around the collegiate ranks. Midway through his senior season at Mesa State, he suffered a compound dislocation of his finger that caused ligament damage. Doctors told him the damage would prevent his return to the gridiron, but in order to preserve his career, Wikre chose to have his finger amputated. He missed just one game for the Mavericks, returning for the final five games of the year. His story was told around the country, including articles in
Sports Illustrated, People, New York Times, USA Today, Sunday NFL Countdown,
ESPN.com, and the
Colorado Springs Gazette. He also had a guest appearance on ESPN’s First Take with Mike and Mike In The Morning.
Trevor and his wife, Traci, have a four-year-old son, Jack.
