Jeff Weiss joins the Linfield coaching staff for the 2018 season and will serve as special teams coordinator and assist with the secondary.
Weiss comes to Linfield with a plethora of experience. His resume includes 14 years as an assistant coach at Southern Oregon University and the University of San Diego, plus over 15 years as either a high school head coach or assistant.
He began his coaching career in 1980 at Chatsworth and Crespi high schools in the Los Angeles basin before moving to USD where he coached running backs, linebackers and special teams for three years.
In 1986, he migrated to Southern Oregon, directing the linebackers and special teams and serving as defensive coordinator. At SOU, he contributed to numerous conference championships, NAIA playoff teams and coached numerous NAIA All-Americans and Defensive Players of the Year.
Weiss left SOU after the 1999 season, spending one year as defensive coordinator at South Medford High School before taking the head coaching job at Grants Pass High School for four seasons. Since 2004, he has been a consultant with the Grants Pass football program while working as a school administrator at several high schools, including Crater, North Valley and Grants Pass.
Weiss earned a bachelor’s degree in health science from Cal State-Northridge and completed a master’s degree in education at Southern Oregon.
He and his wife, Kristeen, have one son, Keegan, who attends Linfield and is a receiver with the Wildcats football team.
