WHAT ARE THE REASONS YOU CHOSE TO ATTEND LINFIELD?
My great-great-great-grandfather, Dr. Reuben Coleman Hill, was a founder and trustee of Linfield back when it was known as McMinnville College. He dedicated many years to the school and, in 1888, received four certificates for tuition to be used by any of his direct descendants. Flash forward to 2025, I earned the RC Hill Trust scholarship which has taken loads of stress off my family and I when it comes to paying for school. I am extremely grateful for him and the trust, I wouldn’t be here without them.
WHAT DOES BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD MEAN TO YOU?
I am extremely grateful to be able to be a student-athlete at Linfield. Participating in college sports has always been a dream of mine since I was in 4th grade. Very happy to be here.
HOW HAS PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS MADE YOU A BETTER PERSON?
Participating in sports has pushed me out of my comfort zone and broken down walls I never thought possible. Growing up, I was extremely shy, so making friends wasn’t easy. Sports gave me a sense of belonging and introduced me to people I might never have had the opportunity to connect with. It strengthened my work ethic, discipline, and grit in the face of adversity. I believe sports attract some of the most inspiring and hardworking people you will ever meet, and being surrounded by that every day has made me a better person.
For me, participating in sports is also bigger than myself. It’s about making my family proud, honoring their sacrifices, and showing them that if I can achieve my goals, they can too. Even when my athletic days are over, the character I’ve built through every win, loss, challenge, and lesson will stay with me for life. No matter what I take on, I will always give my best and never give up. That’s the type of person sports has made me.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?
I don’t really know but I hope I’m happy, surrounded by good people, and making a difference in whatever field/environment I am a part of.
