Spencer Shelton is in his second year as a member of the Linfield coaching staff. In addition to serving as head JV coach and strength and conditioning coordinator, he assists with the operation of the Rapsodo Hitting, Rapsodo Pitching and Blast Motion mechanics.
Hailing from Fayetteville, Georgia, Shelton was a four-year starting pitcher at Piedmont College. He was named Great South Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2009 and earned an All-America honorable mention in 2008.
Shelton was inducted into the Piedmont College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Piedmont, Shelton signed a professional contract as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago White Sox organization. He spent one season in Bristol, Tennessee, playing for the Bristol Pirates.
He also played in the Frontier League on the roster of the Traverse City Beach Bums in Traverse City, Michigan, for one season.
Shelton has worked for 10 years in the private sector, coaching travel baseball and instructing young baseball and softball players.
He is currently the Director of Hitting at The VeloLab, which provides data-backed performance development for softball players.
Shelton currently resides in McMinnville.
