Former pro baseball pitcher Daniel Turpen is in his third year as an assistant coach with the Linfield baseball coaching staff. 

He spent two years as an assistant coach at Lewis & Clark and previously helped develop pitchers at McMinnville High School.

After a decorated career as a student-athlete at McMinnville High, Turpen pitched collegiately at Oregon State, where he was the winning pitcher in the national-championship clinching games for the Beavers in both 2006 and 2007.

Following his career at OSU, Turpen was drafted in the eighth round by the San Francisco Giants. He went on to play nine seasons of professional baseball in five different Major League organizations, rising as high as Class AAA in 2013.

Currently, Turpen is a sales associate for Maletis Beverage Company. He resides in Newberg with his wife, Elisa, and children James and Madison.
