About Us
Linfield University Cheer and Dance is both a competitive and game-day oriented squad. With opportunities to cheer on the winningest football program in America and compete among the top talent in cheerleading, Linfield Cheer and Dance offers the best of both worlds.
We compete in the Small Coed division for both the Game Day and Traditional divisions at UCA College Nationals in Orlando, Fla. In 2022, our first year competing, we secured a ninth-place finish in the Game Day division.
Squad Expectations
Linfield Cheer and Dance welcomes individuals of all gender expressions with skills and enthusiasm including, but not limited to:
- Cheerleading, dance, and/or gymnastics background
- Strong physical condition and appearance
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude and dedicated individual
- Ability to manage time well
- A team player
- A desire to be a leader in the community
Time Commitment
Our team cheers during both football and basketball seasons with appearances at various campus and local events. The season begins with daily doubles one week before Fall term and runs through the end of February, including post-season games. Linfield Cheerleaders are present at both home and local away football games as well as in-conference men’s and women’s basketball games. Team members are required to be on campus or locally available during January Term for basketball season unless an exception is made (at tryouts) by the coach.
Cheerleaders are expected to schedule their classes and exams around the practice times determined by the coach. Linfield cheerleaders practice a minimum of three times a week in the evenings as well as weekly strength and conditioning practices. A complete schedule and expectations agreement are provided upon making the team.
