Linfield football scored a pair of Northwest Conference Athlete of the Week honors following a dominant 41-15 win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh last Saturday, earning senior wide receiver
Kenyon Johnson and sophomore kicker
Andrew O'Dell the conference recognition.
Â
Johnson led all receivers in the game, racking up 171 yards on six receptions and one touchdown. The Preseason First Team All-American corner back made a splash in his first career start on the offensive side, hauling in a 49-yard strike on the first play from scrimmage. A native of Vancouver, Washington, Johnson fought through a defensive holding call in the second quarter, completing a 44-yard catch and score to put Linfield ahead 21-9.Â
Â
O'Dell was perfect in the season opener, drilling 35-yard and 37-yard field goals to ice the game late in the fourth quarter. The Salem, Oregon, native's first career start also saw him go for five-for-five in point after attempts.Â
Â
The 'Cats enjoy a bye week this weekend, picking back up next Saturday in Orange, California, set to take on the Chapman Panthers at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last season's meeting.Â
