Linfield earned three Northwest Conference Athlete of the Week honors after last weekend's success that saw Linfield go 3-0 on the pitch and court, while numerous Cross Country athletes set personal-best marks at Western Oregon. Mens soccer's Anderson Kelly was named NWC Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week, alongside cross country's Mia McCormack and Marco Stroman led the way for NWC Cross Country Athletes of the Week.
 
For each of the three Wildcats, it is their first time earning the weekly Northwest Conference honor.
 
Anderson Kelly, Jr., San Diego, California
Kelly headlined a Wildcat defensive line that shutout the Lewis & Clark River Otters in their NWC home opener, while scoring the go-ahead goal in a 2-1 win over George Fox in Newberg last weekend.
 
A business major, Kelly was on the field for all 180 minutes last weekend, allowing just three shots from the River Otters and five shots on-target by the Bruins. 
 
The junior has lettered in his first two seasons as a Wildcat, competing in 33 matches and making 28 starts so far in his career. He's totaled three goals on just 13 attempts as a defender.
 
Kelly and the Wildcats carry a two-match win streak into homecoming week, set to take on the Puget Sound Loggers and Pacific Lutheran Lutes at home on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Mia McCormack, Sr., Las Vegas, Nevada
McCormack led the Wildcats in their first 6,000-meter race of the season at the Mike Johnson Classic hosted by Western Oregon at the Ash Creek Preserve. The senior posted a new personal best time of 23:34.1 in the race.
 
The Las Vegas, Nevada, native has shined early in her senior season, leading the team at each of the first three meets of the season.
 
"It was fun to race our first 8k and 6k of the season. The first two meets helped ease us into the distance that we'll be racing through the rest of the season. It's going to be fun to see how much we improve in the next 6 weeks." Said head coach Chris McIsaac following the meet.
 
She aims to continue to improve at this weekend's Whitworth Invitational in Spokane, Washington, at Plantes Ferry Park. This weekend's course will also be a preview for the NCAA DIII West Regional to come in November. 
 
Marco Stroman, So., Bainbridge Island, Washington
Stroman has also been a regular atop the lineup for the Wildcats men's cross country team. The sophomore placed 49^th in a strong field with a personal-best 8,000-meter time of 26:29.8.
 
It also marked the first 8K of the season for the men's team, a good warmup for the remainder of the season.
 
Stroman leads the Wildcats to this weekend's meet in Spokane as well, set to compete at Plantes Ferry Park this Saturday.
