Jayden Taylor leads Linfield results at Oregon Twilight

EUGENE, Ore. – A baker's dozen of track and field athletes representing Linfield made the trek to the University of Oregon's Hayward Field on Friday to compete in the Oregon Twilight, an all-comers meet featuring a mixture of college programs and at-large entries contested on the legendary track known for hosting national and international competitions.
 
WOMEN
Highlighting the list of women's performances from Linfield was Jayden Taylor, the top finisher in the 5,000-meter run. The junior two-sport athlete turned in a personal-best time of 18 minutes, 48.56 seconds.
 
Also faring well for the Wildcat women was Isabella Grutsch, who recorded a new personal best clocking of 14.53 in the 100 hurdles. Natasha Freimuth placed fifth in her best event, the 400 hurdles, in 1:07.63.
 
Baylie Thompson went 17-7½ in the long jump, placing sixth, just ahead of Grutsch's eighth-place mark of 16-10. Sage Cramp cleared 11-6½ in the pole vault, good for ninth place.
 
Eboni Zehner achieved a season-best mark in the javelin, throwing 118 feet, 8 inches to place seventh. Savannah Filios was eighth with a personal-best effort of 40-9½ in the shot put.
 
MEN
Hudson Holzhauer registered the best finish of the day on the men's side, placing fifth in the hammer with a mark of 167-1. Kiyan Vrell was eighth in the javelin, throwing 177-10.
 
On the track, Kekai Macabio clocked a personal-best 50.41 in the 400 dash to secure ninth place and 22.58 in the 200, also a personal best, to take 10th. Davidson Kathman ran a season-best time of 11.07 in the 100 dash, a fraction of a second faster than teammate Liam Christensen, who ran 11.09. The Linfield pair finished 9-10, respectively.
 
In the 800 run, Finley Wodke was ninth in 1:58.43.
 
AHEAD
The Wildcats have one more open opportunity to compete this coming Thursday and Friday at Stoffer Family Stadium in Newberg where they're try to record new top times and marks at the George Fox Final Qualifier starting at 10 a.m.
