Eight Wildcat swimmers honored by College Sports Communicators for academic and athletic success

College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their annual Academic All-District teams on Wednesday morning, highlighting eight Wildcat swimmers to the men's and women's teams. Seniors Andrew Lee, Kirsti Keppo, Taila Patterson, Rocco Velie and Carson Washburn joined juniors Caley Haydu, Chloe Lazaraton and sophomore Kai Laitinen represented Linfield swimming in the national honors list.
 
CSC's Academic All-District is given out to a select number of student-athletes per institution in sophomore standing or older, who maintain above a 3.50 grade point average while competing in nearly all meets throughout the season. 
 
Junior Caley Haydu earned her first Academic All-District honor of her career, competing primarily in the freestyle. Haydu is the daughter of Audrey and Adrian Haydu, and is currently undecided in her major. She earned two Second Team All-NWC honors this season in both the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relay at the NWC Championships.
 
Senior Kirsti Keppo claimed her third All-District honor and is nominated for CSC's Academic All-America honors to be voted upon in the coming weeks by athletic communicators across the country. From Eugene, Oregon, Keppo is the daughter of Paul and Deborah Keppo, earning three All-NWC First Team and one Second Team honor in 2026 to complete her highly decorated collegiate swimming career. The senior is majoring in Marketing and has maintained just shy of a perfect 4.00 grade point average during her career. 
 
Chloe Lazaraton, native of Redding, California, earned her first All-District honor after a pair of Second Team All-NWC honors in the freestyle this Spring. Lazarton is majoring in Pre-Nursing & Management and is the daughter of Steve and Lisa Lazaraton.
 
Senior Taila Patterson competed in both the backstroke and butterfly this season while studying International Relations and Economics. Patterson is the daughter of Carolyn and Pat Patterson, and tallied her second CSC Academic All-District honor of her career.
 
In his first year eligible, sophomore Computer Science and Mathematics major Kai Laitinen earned his first CSC Academic All-District honor. Laitinen is the son of Eric ad Heidi Laitinen and racked up three Second Team All-NWC honors in his sophomore campaign.
 
A Public Health major, senior Andrew Lee made the Academic All-District team for the first time in his career. Andrew is the son of Kwok and Molly Lee. 
 
Senior Rocco Velie earned his third All-District honor of his career while majoring in Exercise Science. The son of Petra and Steve Velie, Rocco tallied four total Second Team All-NWC honors in his senior season, competing in the IM and butterfly, primarily.
 
Senior Carson Washburn is the son of Debbie and Dan Washburn, earning his first CSC Academic All-District honor. A native of Grants Pass, Oregon, Washburn earned Second Team All-NWC honors in both the 400-yard medley relay and 100-yard freestyle finals at the 2026 NWC Swimming Championships.
 
Linfield men's and women's swimming teams completed the season at the 2026 Northwest Conference Championships, with the men's team taking third and the women's squad finishing sixth in the conference.
