EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Wildcat men's wrestlers
Jacob Moore and
Ethan Ensrud punched their ticket to day two of the NCAA Division III Region VII Championships on Friday, guaranteeing both a place on the podium at the 16-team event featuring mostly teams from the Midwest.Â
Â
After an opening-round loss, Moore notched back-to-back pins over Elijah Torres from Concordia-Wisconsin and TJ Turner from Pacific to advance to Saturday's brackets. He can place anywhere from third to eighth, and could qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships.Â
Â
Ensrud, seeded fifth, received an opening-round bye and lost in the quarterfinals before bouncing back with a high-flying 26-13 major decision win over London Kiser of Carthage College on the backside of the bracket. He advances to Saturday, as well.Â
Â
Max Vander Meide,
Trey Dieringer and
Camden Roofener all won matches for the Mat Cats also, but failed to advance past Friday.Â
