Swimming earns 14 finalists in NWC Championships day two

BOISE, Idaho --- Linfield swimming earned 10 total A finalists and 14 total finalists in Saturday evening's session, led by top-three finishes from seniors Sarah Arpag, Kira Etheredge, Kirsti Keppo and Sam Postlewait. The Wildcat's mens team enters the final two sessions in fourth, and the women's squad is sixth.
 
Kirsti Keppo, Kira Etheredge, Sarah Arpag and Caley Haydu opened Saturday's finals with a third-place finish in the women's 200-yard medley relay, barely finishing behind the team from George Fox. 
 
Arpag and Etheredge were A finalists in the women's 100-yard butterfly, with Arpag securing the bronze medal with a time of 57.97, and Etheredge in sixth with a 58.72. Keppo entered the women's 200-yard freestyle as the conference's No.1 seed, still finishing second, just behind the medalist from Whitworth.
 
On the men's side, Jack Sappington and Ivan Tontchev finished in seventh and eighth in the men's 100-yard breaststroke, where Etheredge took third in the women's final. 
 
Nathaniel Wilson led the 'Cats in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in fifth in the men's final with a 52.21, improving on his preliminary time. Both teams finished fourth and fifth in the final 800-yard medley relay races to close out the night. 
 
The Wildcats are back in the pool for the final day of the 2026 Northwest Conference Championships tomorrow, beginning with the morning session at 9 a.m.
