TACOMA, Wash. --- Linfield men's and women's cross country traveled north for their first meet outside of Oregon, with each team competing as individuals at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational.
Freshman
Mya Budzik led the women's team for a third-straight meet, running an average mile of 7:27.5, and completing the six-kilometer race in 27:48.4. Budzik was one of four Wildcat's in the women's race, finishing 35-seconds ahead of freshman teammate
Jasmine Solso. Solso paced just nine-seconds behind her teammate in average mile time. Junior
Liberty McElfatrick and freshman
Ximena Sanchez-Lopez rounded out the 'Cats in the longest race thus far this season. These two paced close together for the majority of the race, before McElfatrick pulled away for a nine-second different between Sanchez-Lopez.
Marco Stroman continues to have a strong start to his collegiate career, taking 64
th of 157 men's athletes in Saturday's race. Stroman led a team of three Wildcats in the eight-kilometer race, running a 28:12.6 for an average mile of 5:40.5. Junior
CJ Brindeiro competed in the first 8k race in his Linfield career, transferring from a junior college, finishing in 29:34.8. Freshman
Finley Wodke completed the Wildcat lineup in the race, earning a time of 32:12.9.
With seven total competitors, neither team earned a team score for the meet. Both squads take a weekend away from racing before competing in the Charles Bowles Invitational on October 4
th in Salem, Oregon.
