Freshman libero
Naia Alefaio-Foifua grabbed her first career Northwest Conference Athlete of the Week honors on Monday, announced by the conference office, earning the award for her strong weekend defensively.
The 'Cats travelled to Thousand Oaks, California, last weekend to take on three opponents from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, closing out the tournament with a 3-0 sweep over Chapman. In 11 sets played, Alefaio-Foifua continued her dominance as the libero for the Linfield volleyball team. Earning 36 total digs (3.27 digs per set) in the tournament, the freshman remains one of the best in the conference at the position, sitting in fourth in digs per set among NWC liberos.
The Seattle, Washington, native is off to a great start in her first collegiate season, competing in all 19 sets for the Wildcats. She's recieved 122 total attacks, making just 0.32 reception errors per set. With Northwest Conference play on the horizon, Alefaio-Foifua aims to continue in her role as the starting libero for the 'Cats, set to make her NWC debut tomorrow night in Forest Grove, Oregon, against the Pacific Boxers.
