Tuttle & Canubida All-NWC

Tuttle, Canubida named to All-NWC second team

A pair of Linfield Wildcats were rewarded for standout seasons on the tennis court, as sophomore Kaitlynn Canubida and senior Emma Tuttle were both named to the All-Northwest Conference Second Team, announced in a release on Thursday afternoon.

Canubida posted a strong year in the top half of the Wildcats' lineup, notching one singles victory at No. 1 and seven at the No. 2 position. Her most dominant performances came in conference play, where she picked up straight-set wins over Lewis & Clark (6-0, 6-1), Whitworth's Faith Kert (6-4, 6-1) who ended up on the All-NWC first team, and Willamette (6-2, 6-1). Canubida also impressed in a hard-fought battle at the top spot against College of Idaho's Hristina Ljuba, rallying for a 6-4, 2-6, 10-6 victory to open the season.

In doubles, Canubida teamed up with Tuttle to form Linfield's top pairing. The duo claimed early momentum with back-to-back conference wins over Lewis & Clark and Puget Sound by scores of 6-2 and 6-1, respectively. They later rolled to a 6-0 win against Willamette and took down George Fox's top pair 6-4.

Tuttle anchored the top of Linfield's singles lineup all season and delivered key wins that bolstered her all-conference resume. She secured a gritty 6-4, 7-6 (3-0) road win over Puget Sound and later came away with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory against Willamette. Tuttle also closed the regular season with a 7-5, 6-4 win in a rematch against the Bearcats, closing her Linfield career with an impressive victory.

Together, Canubida and Tuttle served as leaders for a young Wildcats squad, providing consistency and competitiveness against a deep NWC field. Their recognition as second-team selections marks the first all-conference honors for both players.
