Welcome Mitch Malot

Mitch Malot to lead offensive line and running game

Linfield University football coach Joseph Smith on Thursday announced the hiring of Mitch Malot as offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

"We are very excited to have Mitch leading the offensive line and coordinating our run game," said Smith, who begins his 20th season leading the Wildcats. "Mitch is a hard worker and has a great mind for the game. I know he will hold the O-line to a high standard and develop our offensive linemen to their utmost."

Malot, whose two uncles, Steve Davis and Craig Davis, played football at Linfield in the 1970s, was equally enthusiastic about his new role.

"I am beyond excited and honored to join the Linfield University football program. The opportunity to contribute to the legacy of excellence at Linfield is truly humbling."

Malot comes to Linfield from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas where he served as a graduate assistant coach while working specifically with the offensive line. Prior to UNLV, he  coached at NAIA powerhouse Carroll College in Helena, Montana and spent two seasons as offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Southern Oregon University. He also coached for two years under former Linfield offensive lineman Tim Frisbie at the College of the Siskiyous in Weed, California.

Malot's playing career included two seasons as the starting center at SOU in 2017 and 2018. He also played two seasons at the College of the Siskiyous. He completed a bachelor's degree at SOU in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2019 before immediately joining the Raiders coaching staff.

A native of Central Point, Oregon, Malot graduated from Crater High School in 2015.

Malot replaces Bob Barnes on the Linfield coaching staff. In accepting his new appointment, Malot pledged to live up to the high expectations that go with being a member of the Linfield football program.

"I am fully committed to developing an offensive line that will not only be the strongest it has ever been, but will also embody the hard work, discipline and pride that Linfield is known for. Being a part of this incredible culture and tradition is something I take great pride in. I'm eager to help continue the winning legacy of Linfield football. We are going to work."

Mitch and his wife, Hannah, are raising an infant son, Lincoln, born January 12, 2025.
