TACOMA, Wash. --- Linfield men's and women's swimming wrapped up their road trip to the Tacoma schools on Friday morning, with the men's squad narrowly losing 109-92, and the women falling 114-90 against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes.Â
Â
After the Lutes claimed both of the 200-yard medley relay races to begin the meet,
Kai Laitinen got the 'Cats first win in the 1650-yard freestyle, winning by over 77-seconds.
Kirsti Keppo and
Chloe Lazaraton dominated the women's 1650-yard free, finishing five-seconds apart to take first and second in the race.Â
Â
Rocco Velie competed for the first time in the men's 200-yard freestyle, posting a 1:47.70 to win the race after leading from start to finish.
Kira Etheredge won the 50-yard freestyle sprint, with a time of 25.43, posting her new-best, and the fourth fastest in the conference. Keppo returned to the pool for the 400-yard IM, winning by just six-hundredths of a second, with a time of 4:57.83.
Â
Velie won his second race of the day, claiming the 100-yard butterfly with the eighth-fastest time in the NWC, 53.55.

Sam Postlewait grabbed the top-two spots in the 100-yard freestyle, with Washburn posting a 49.76.
Caley Haydu also won the women's 100-yard free, with a 57.00.Â
Â
Keppo and Laitinen swept the 500-yard freestyle races, it was Laitinen's second win of the day and Keppo's third. Both Wildcats won each race wire-to-wire. Pacific Lutheran went on to finish the meet by winning each of the final four races of the morning. Similar to last night's meet at Puget Sound, Linfield claimed 10 of the 22 titles, but each came up short of the Lutes depth. Both Linfield teams now boast a 2-2 record in duals against Northwest Conference opponents to begin the season.Â
Â
Swimming is back in action next Friday in Los Angeles, California, at the La Verne Winter Invitational. The 'Cats will compete against quality opponents from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in their lone non-conference meet of the season.Â
