LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. --- Linfield women's golf closed out the Fall schedule on Monday afternoon at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic, taking seventh as a team, led by
Sophia Hamilton who finished 27
th.
In a rainy first round, the Wildcats battled weather and some late Fall darkness at the end of the round, firing a 369 team score on Sunday. The team was led by freshman
Addison Nations, who's birdie on the par-five fifth hole earned her an opening-round 88. Nations improved on the back-nine on Sunday, carding a 43 on her way to a 93 to finish in 29
th.
Sophia Hamilton's two nines of 46 gave her a 92 in round one, but finished the tournament with eight-straight pars on the back-nine to shoot an 88. She led the Wildcats after two rounds, finishing one-stroke ahead of Nations, taking 27
th.
Breleigh Garcia was the last Wildcat to compete in both rounds of the tournament, with a 93 in both rounds to finish 34
th.
Ainsley Kelley competed in the opening round on Sunday, shooting a 96 through the off-and-on rain. Karissa Whitford returned to the lineup in round two in place of Kelley, with Whitford firing the lowest round for the team in the weekend. Whitford's two birdies and eight pars helped propel her to an 87 in the final round.
Linfield finished in seventh as a team for the tournament, ahead of Pacific Lutheran and Willamette. George Fox narrowly captured the team title over Pacific. Katelyn Lam of GFU claimed the medalist honors with rounds of 77 and 76.
The Wildcats now have the Winter season to prepare for a lengthy Spring schedule that will feature the NWC Spring Classic and NWC Championships.
