For a second-straight week, and third time this season, freshman libero
Naia Alefaio-Foifua earned the Northwest Conference's Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week honors. Her record night behind the service line, totaling eight aces in a straight-set sweep of George Fox, tied the program's record for aces in a single match.
Native of Seattle, Washington, the libero has been a force defensively all-season long for the Linfield Wildcat volleyball team. She currently ranks third in the conference for digs per set (4.35), adding 25 digs over eight sets last week, leading to wins over Lewis & Clark and George Fox. Against the Bruins, the freshman libero began the match with six aces in the first set, propelling the 'Cats momentum into a dominant three-set sweep. She's already added 220 digs and 15 aces to her totals, with the conference season at the half-way point.
The daughter of Chante Alefaio & Deshawn Foifua, the freshman is currently majoring in Business. She and the 'Cats look to their home match against the Pacific Boxers tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. inside Ted Wilson Gymnasium. Earlier this season, the 'Cats swept the Boxers in straight-sets in Forest Grove, Oregon.
