Kirsch intercepts NWC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors

Junior defensive back Max Kirsch made a pair of interceptions in football's 23-6 win over Pacific last Saturday inside the Cat Dome, earning himself Northwest Conference's Football Defensive Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

A native of Happy Valley, Oregon, Kirsch tallied four total tackles last weekend, but making his presence felt in the red zone, nabbing two Boxer passes out of the air. The first two interceptions of his career, Kirsch has played in 19 games through two-plus seasons, making 28 tackles, and two for-loss. The junior's first pick came near the end of the first half, intercepting the pass at the Linfield four-yard line,returning it 19 yards. Just one quarter later, he ended a Pacific drive in the Linfield red zone, grabbing the third-down pass out of the air, and downing it in the end zone for a touchback.

The son of Lynde and John Kirsch, the junior is currently studying Exercise Science. He aims to lead the Wildcat defense into this weekend, set to host the Whitworth Pirates on Maxwell Field at 1 p.m. for Fall Family Weekend.
