In a release on Tuesday afternoon, Linfield football's
Caleb Sell has been selected as a member of the CSC Academic All-America second team after an impressive senior season.
The Salem, Ore. native finished his Linfield career 15
th in program history in quarterback sacks (19) and 16
th in quarterback hurries (9). He also tallied 24.5 tackles for loss, four passes deflected and two forced fumbles.
Sell anchored a defensive line that allowed only 73.4 rush yards per game and held the nation's leading rusher to just 66 yards.
"Caleb is a worker. No matter what he is doing. Working, lifting, training or academics, Caleb will exert great effort to make sure it is done well," said head football coach
Joseph Smith. "I truly loved watching him dominate this year as he worked so very hard to master his craft and put the necessary horsepower onto his frame over the past five years."
In the Wildcats' playoff game against Mary-Hardin Baylor, Sell registered four tackles, one sack and a forced fumble, cementing his legacy in a Linfield uniform.
