A record seven home games highlight the 2025 Linfield University football schedule, announced Friday by head coach
Joseph Smith.
Â
To call the 2025 schedule the most favorable in program history is not an exaggeration. The Wildcats open the 10-game slate with three straight home contests and won't travel outside Yamhill County until late October. The furthest road trips on the schedule are to the Tacoma-area in Washington state to take on Northwest Conference foes Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound.
Â
The season kicks off September 6 at Maxwell Field against national contender Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The Wildcats and Titans battled into overtime in each of their two previous meetings in 2012 and 2024 with UWO coming out on the winning end both times.
Â
Game 2 features an entirely new program from California. Asher University, located northeast of Los Angeles, is launching a football program in 2025 and will line up against Linfield in McMinnville on September 13.
Â
The following Saturday, September 20, the Wildcats host the Chapman Panthers, a perennially solid program from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Â
After a bye weekend, Northwest Conference play begins October 4. Linfield will make the quick 11-mile trip to George Fox where the 'Cats will be introduced to the Bruins' yet-to-be-named head coach, who takes over the program following the recent retirement announcement of longtime GFU leader Chris Casey.
Â
With fall colors on full display, the Wildcats host the Pacific Boxers on October 11 as part of Homecoming Weekend. The following Saturday, Linfield plays Whitworth at home on Fall Family Weekend. The 'Cats then trek to Puyallup, Washington, to square off against PLU October 25 at Sparks Stadium.
Â
The Lewis & Clark Pioneers come to McMinnville on November 1. The Pioneers will also be facing the Wildcats under the leadership of a first-year coach after the resignation of Joe Bushman.
Â
Linfield visits Puget Sound in Tacoma November 8 before returning home to play Willamette in the Pacific Office Automation Hall of Fame Game on November 15.
Â
The Wildcats are coming off a 10-2 season in which they won the Northwest Conference championship and reached the third round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. For 2025, Linfield is aiming to extend its all-divisions record of consecutive winning seasons to 69.
Â
Game times are tentatively set for 1 p.m. and are subject to change due to broadcast considerations or opponent travel schedules.
