Linfield had the highest number of All-Northwest Conference baseball selections since 2018 when seven Wildcats were named to the awards in an announcement released Friday morning. The 'Cats finished one spot outside the NWC post-season tournament but improved by six wins over the 2023 season and finished with a record of 19-20 and 12-12 in conference play. In his first season dawning the Purple and Cardinal,
Jacob Swenson was named Rookie of the Year and second-team All-NWC while
Jake Hoskins returned to the list after his first team nod.
Swenson went 3-2 in 10 starts with a 4.80 ERA. He recorded 47 strikeouts with a complete game over 60 total innings. Hoskins finished with a .303 batting average, four doubles and 15 RBIs over 36 games between shortstop and third base.
Nick Holm,
Elijah Maris and
Tyler Marr joined Swenson on the second-team All-NWC list. Holm led the Wildcats with 43 RBIs, which finished second in the conference. He also tallied eight home runs, 43 hits and a .299 batting average. In his first season at Linfield, Maris led Linfield in batting average at .386, a mark that finished third in the conference. Maris also led the 'Cats with 54 hits, 42 runs, 13 doubles and three triples.
Similarly to Hoskins, Marr is making his second appearance on the All-NWC list in as many seasons. Marr totaled 31 hits, 23 RBIs, three doubles and a .277 batting average.
Rounding out the selections were newcomers
Camden Oram and
Hunter Klingelhoffer. Oram assumed the top starting spot after two seasons at Lower Columbia Community College. He finished the season with a 5-4 record in 12 starts and a 4.66 ERA. The Tumwater, Wash., native compiled 56 strikeouts in 75.1 innings. Klingelhoffer came to Linfield as a transfer. In his debut season for the 'Cats, Klingelhoffer finished second on the team in home runs with seven while adding 28 hits, six doubles and 24 RBIs.
Pacific's CJ Colyer was named Player of the Year. Whitman's Julien Hernandez was selected Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season and Blues head coach Brian Kitamura was named Coach of the Year.
