Barnes, Rickett lead six Wildcat placers at Boxer Open

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Linfield's Jacob Barnes won the men's heavyweight division at the Boxer Open on Sunday, and Alice Rickett ran the tables in the 143-pound women's bracket to lead the Wildcats at the open tournament.

Barnes improved his season record to 24-2 on the season, including 18 pins. He beat Rocco Clark III of Grays Harbor College 2-0 in the championship match Sunday.

Rickett, meanwhile, pushed her January winning streak to six straight matches. After coming back from an early-November injury that kept her out for half of the season, Rickett returned at the Mat 'Cat Invitational two weeks ago to go 3-0 and win the championship. She matched that result Sunday in Forest Grove, notching a pin and two technical fall victories for the title.

Jacob Moore and Ethan Ensrud finished third for the Wildcats on Sunday while Klaira Flatt and Ayana Medina each placed fourth.

The night before the tournament, Linfield's women dualed Eastern Oregon in Forest Grove. Rickett claimed Linfield's only win on the night, pinning the Mounties' Nayeli Maston in 42 seconds.
