McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Wildcats took a first-set victory and later pulled away against the visiting Pioneers on Friday night at Ted Wilson Gymnasium in McMinnville. Linfield (5-5, 1-2) took a four-set victory over Northwest Conference rival Lewis & Clark (5-6, 0-3) 25-13, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21.
The 'Cats finished with a .190 hitting percentage, 47 kills, 42 assists, 67 digs and 14 aces.
Nora Myre was everywhere for Linfield, totaling a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs.
Ryli Kalahikih and
Lexi Correa added 11 kills each.
Claire Johnson posted a game-high 32 assists and
Paige Richards led the Wildcats with 19 digs.
The Wildcats took the first set behind a .278 team hitting percentage and five errors gifted by Lewis & Clark. The Pioneers grabbed the second set after Linfield's hitting percentage cooled to .056.
The 'Cats were charged by six serving aces in the third set and closed the match in the fourth behind another strong team hitting a percentage of .290.
The Pioneers finished with a .096 hitting percentage. Izzy Willis and Annika Traxler led the Pioneers offense with 16 and 14 kills each. Katie Shimaura led the Lewis & Clark defense with 17 digs.
