HOQUIAM, Wash. – Sophomore Emily Sullenger led the Linfield women's wrestling team Saturday at the GHC Choker Invitational, topping back-to-back opponents from Southern Oregon and Simon Fraser to secure a place in the finals. 
 
After qualifying for the NCAA national championships a year ago, Sullenger had started this season 0-3 heading into Saturday's competition. Her 6-4 win over Simon Fraser's Laura Alcantor Soto in the semifinals was her most impressive outing of the season. 
 
Fellow sophomore Kami Hart, wrestling unattached, finished third in the 191-pound bracket and Kelsie Rush placed fourth at 116. Klaira Flatt and Ayana Medina each placed sixth, at 143 and 155, respectively. 
 
"These women wrestled better than they have all season," said Linfield coach Frank Johnson. "We showed a lot of growth in this tournament. We're just going to continue getting better as the season progresses."
