McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Freshman
Josie Daywitt celebrated the first top-10 performance of her collegiate career, leading the Linfield women at their own Wildcat Invitational Saturday and Sunday at Michelbook Country Club.
Daywitt finished in ninth place with a two-round score of 172, carding a season-low 84 on Saturday before posting an 88 in Sunday's second round. The Wildcats placed third of four teams with a final team score of 746, just six strokes behind second-place Pacific (740). Willamette, the fifth team in attendance, only sent players who competed as individuals.
The rest of Linfield's scoring players all placed in a row. Junior
Caitlin Hillman finished in 14
th at 190, turning in rounds of 94 and 96. Freshman
Maddy Neufeld and sophomore
Tori Schuller tied for 15
th at 192.
Hannah Hughes came in 18
th place with an even 200.
George Fox dominated the team and individual leaderboards. The Bruins took the team title by 157 strokes, winning with a score of 583. Six Bruins landed in the top 10. They occupied every spot in the top five. Alison Takamiya earned medalist honors with her 141 (-3), carding a low round of 68 on Sunday to edge out teammate Liana Brown (144) by three strokes.
