Members of the 1992 Linfield football team are invited to return to campus for a special 30-year reunion and recognition on Saturday, Oct. 22, as part of that afternoon's home football game.
Â
Thirty years ago, the Wildcats rolled to a 12-1 record under first-year coach Ed Langsdorf. The only blemish on an otherwise remarkable season came in the NAIA Division II championship game played at Portland's then-Civic Stadium (now Providence Park). The 1992 football team established a long list of new team and individual records and came very close to bringing home a fourth national title for Linfield.
Â
Past players and coaches from the 1992 football team are invited to enjoy complimentary food and beverage in the VIP area prior to the game. During halftime, the team will be welcomed to the field and acknowledged for their accomplishments.
Â
Among those expected to attend are Langsdorf, assistant coach Jay Locey, as well as current Wildcats coach
Joseph Smith and broadcast analyst Gary McGarvie, both All-Americans on the '92 squad. Hall of Fame coach
Ad Rutschman, who recruited nearly all of the players from the 1992 team, is also among those invited to participate.
Â
Following the game, the team is planning to gather for an informal barbeque and social time at Ty and Robin Angevine's home in McMinnville.
In order that we may get an accurate count for food service, we ask that all attendees please RSVP using the link above.
