So far, so good for the Linfield defense in 2022.

Following a season-opening win over the Huntingdon Hawks on Sept. 3 in Montgomery, Alabama, senior defensive end Travis Swanson was named the Northwest Conference Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week.

Now fresh off a defensive-driven 21-3 win over the Redlands Bulldogs on Homecoming, the Wildcats earned another Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week nod in junior linebacker Blake Rybar.

Rybar led the Linfield defense with 10 tackles, seven solo. He finished the game with 3 ½ tackles for loss, including a sack, while also contributing a quarterback hurry and forced fumble.

With the Monroe, Washington, native leading the way, the Wildcats limited the Bulldogs to 84 yards of total offense and four first downs. The Bulldogs were forced to punt seven times. They were a combined 0 for 10 on third and fourth downs.
