Said Killgore upon announcing Romero's appointment: "I'm looking forward to working with Professor Madeleine Romero. She is an outstanding educator on campus and has also been recognized for her teaching excellence at Oregon State. Madeleine has worked with a many of our student-athletes over the years and has always had a very good relationship."

Romero shares Killgore's enthusiasm for her new role and is eager to build increased synergy between to two prominent sectors of the University.

"As a sports enthusiast and former athlete, I understand how important athletics is to the development of a well-rounded person. I am really excited to have the opportunity to engage and support our student-athletes and share their lives in the classroom as well as on the playing field in competition," she said.

Romero attended UC-Irvine before completing a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles. She went on to earn a master's degree in finance and marketing from the University of Southern California. While at UC-Irvine, Romero competed on the track & field team and was a member of the cheerleading squad.

She began teaching at Linfield in 2010, directing financial management and financial theory courses as well as leading a seminar in corporate finance.

Prior to joining the Linfield faculty, Romero was a member at the College of Business at Oregon State University (OSU) and with the University Honors College at OSU, where she taught courses in corporate finance, personal finance and accounting. She has held management positions in corporate acquisitions and development in the health care industry.

Her academic accomplishments have been recognized by multiple institutions. Most recently, Romero was the 2021 recipient of the Henberg International Scholarship Award, honoring her work on an international finance textbook titled Business Planning: Step by Step. She also received national recognition for exceptional teaching and was the recipient of numerous teaching awards during her tenures at Oregon State and CSU-Fullerton.
