MCMINNVILLE, ORE. – Both the Linfield men's and women's golf team opened their spring schedules with wins on their home course of Michelbook Country Club this past weekend in match-play dual tournaments against the Pacific University Boxers.
The Linfield women beat Pacific 7-5 over Saturday and Sunday, while the Wildcat men cruised to a 14-4 victory. It was the only tournament for both squads at Michelbook this season on the spring calendar.
Dual match scoring features two teams pitting individual players against each other in one-on-one contests over each round of the tournament. One point is awarded for a one-on-one victory while half a point is awarded to both teams in the event of a tie.

It would take a comeback effort for Linfield on Sunday after falling behind to Pacific 3.5-2.5 at the end of Saturday's competition. The Wildcats saw encouraging wins from freshmen Hannah Hughes and Sasha Carey over Pacific's Noelani Root and Brynn Barber, respectively.

A tie between sophomore Caitlin Hillman and Sydnie Matsuda made the score 3.5-2.5 Pacific at the end of Saturday.
But the Wildcats rallied on Sunday to win the second round of the tournament 4.5-1.5. Carey would not play in the second round and Hughes tied with Cabardo on Sunday, but Linfield found points with bounce-back wins from Hart over Barber and Shuller over Root as well as Hillman picking up a win over McClellan-Tedrow. Junior Raegan Barr also added a point with her win over Arnold after sitting out on Saturday to clinch Linfield's victory for the weekend.
