One of the biggest names in Linfield volleyball in the last decade,
Raelynn Hammock finished her senior campaign as a Second Team All-Northwest Conference selection, released Monday.
Â
An honorable mention last season, Hammock is the first player in program history to earn second-team honors since libero Kayla Magbaleta in 2017. The outside hitter from Oakridge, Oregon, finished the season ranked No. 2 in the NWC with 325 kills and 3.69 kills per set. Her kills per set just cracked the Division III top 50. Hammock was also second in the conference with 383 points and 4.35 points per set while leading the league with 44 service aces, a mark that's tied for sixth in Linfield's single-season record book.
Â
Hammock registered double digit kills 17 times in 2022, including on nine straight occasions to close the season. She racked up 20 or more kills seven times, led by a season-high 25 kills in the Wildcats' season-opening win over New England College at the Pacific Coast Classic on Sept. 2. Her .388 hitting percentage in that match was a career high among qualified matches.
Â
As if her offensive numbers weren't impressive enough, Hammock also led the 'Cats with 262 digs, averaging 2.98 per set. She recorded 14 double-doubles, highlighted by a 24-kill, 30-dig performance against Whittier on Sept. 3. The 30 digs shattered her previous career high of 20.
Â
Hammock climbed the rankings in the program's record book this season. In 285 career sets played, she has tallied 122 aces, good for third in program history. She also ranks sixth all-time with 3.21 kills per set while ranking seventh in kills (916) and points (1,073).
Halle Hetzler of Pacific Lutheran was named both the NWC Player of the Year and Libero of the Year while the Lutes' setter, Olivia Evaro, was selected as the Rookie of the Year.
