Maclain Stoneking was off to the races against Puget Sound this past weekend, running straight to the D3football.com Team of the Week, released Monday.

The sophomore from Loomis, California, returned six Logger punts for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Wildcats' 72-2 rout of the Loggers at Maxwell Field. His first touchdown was an 82-yard return to the house with 13:15 left in the second quarter. He struck again with 2:48 remaining before halftime, that time for 59 yards.

The 'Cats put up 471 yards of total offense while limiting the Loggers to 132. The Loggers were forced to punt 11 times. Paul Thie also returned a punt for a touchdown, a 66-yarder that came just 43 seconds after Stoneking's second score of the afternoon. Stoneking nearly had another punt return touchdown in the third quarter, but it was called back due to an illegal block in the back at the other end of the field.

Five players throughout Division III were chosen as special teams selections. Stoneking was the lone returner to make the list. He's the first Linfield player in 2022 to land on the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Linfield (3-0, 1-0 NWC) makes the important trip to Spokane, Washington, this week to take on the Whitworth Pirates (3-1, 1-0 NWC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Pine Bowl.
